Air pollution at dangerous level

Dhaka, Nov 15: In the absence of any viable measure to address the problem, air pollution in the country’s major cities is worsening and experts believe that the situation would be unbearable in the ensuing dry season. “The country’s air pollution situation is already very critical and it would get worse in the dry season, with the multiplying of harmful particulate matter (PM),” M Asraf Ali, a Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) professor and leading expert on air pollution, told The Independent on Wednesday.According to Prof. Ali, the level of PM in the capital’s air shoots up in the dry season, by at least four times.
