Home Minster Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said there might be a conspiracy behind the Thakurpara arson attack on the Hindu community.
The Rangpur incident is the recurrence of Brahmanbarias Nasirnagr one. There might a plot behind it, he said.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at Ramna Police Convention Centre after joining a reception accorded to those police members who put up the first resistance against Pakistani occupation forces at Rajarbagh on March 26, 1971, reports UNB.
Earlier on October 30, 2016, unruly mobs and zealots vandalised many Hindu houses and temples in five villages of Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria following a rumour of a Facebook post demeaning the Holy Kaaba.
Khan said an investigation into the incident is going on to unearth the reason behind the mayhem and identify the attackers.
Replying to a question, he said police could not prevent the incident as the number of attackers was much higher than them.
