4 ‘BCL men’ held for demanding ‘toll’ from OC in M’singh



Police arrested four Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men on Sunday for allegedly demanding toll from the officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station.

The arrestees are Raju, former vice-president of Nandail upazila unit BCL, its organising secretary Royal, and activists Titu and Quamrul, said OC Quamrul Islam Miah.

He said Wahedul Islam Faisal, former general secretary of the upazila unit BCL, demanded Tk 20,000 from him over phone on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB.

An altercation ensued between the BCL men and the OC when they went to the police station today for collecting the money, Quamrul said.

At one stage, police arrested them. Later, they were handed over to Detective Branch of police.

A case was filed against them.
