Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Wednesday said there is little scope to reform the existing 30 percent quota for freedom fighters in government service.
The minister came up with the remarks at a press conference on preservation of quota for freedom fighters in government jobs and the ministrys recent activities at the secretariat, UNB reports.
Though theres a provision to recruit people from merit list if eligible candidates are not available to fill up posts from the Freedom Fighters quota but still theres a legal obligation to preserve at least 30 percent quota for FFs, he said.
Citing a Supreme Court verdict over FF quota, Mozammel said, Theres no chance to take different decisions ignoring the court order. If its done, that will be tantamount to contempt of court.
Hope, the committee formed by the government over quota reform issue would take decision on it cautiously. A copy of the Supreme
